Power 4
I’ve never consider myself a superstitious person or one to rely on numerologyor horoscopes. At an early age I made the decision to put my faith in God, but there are times that numbers seem to follow me. Has this ever happened to you? Lately, for me it is the number 4. I am training for my 4th marathon The marathon was ranked the 4th best marathon in the country in the January, 2010 issue of Runners World Magazine I am trying to PR at 4 hours Now due to a thunderstorm earlier this week I had to run my 4th day in a row Strange as it may be for now I will just go with it. Sometimes I just feel like a good crispy waffle. Van’s Natural Foods puts out a good frozen alternative to a homemade waffle. … Read entire article »

Running, Yoga and Baking?
Do you remember that Sesame Street song, “Three Of These Things Belong Together”? Three of these things belong together Three of these things are kind of the same Can you guess which one of these doesn’t belong here? Now it’s time to play our game (time to play our game). I think that my day could be summed up with this old children’s game. This glorious Saturday started with a very S-L-O-W 6 mile run. OK, so I understand that my marathon scheduled called for a easy recovery run at a pace of 9:58, but usually I have to really slow myself down to comply. This morning however I could hardly keep up. What does this mean? Is my body just feeling the effects of training? Was my growling stomach and lack of sleep a factor? Am I just getting … Read entire article »

Shopaholic?
Its Monday again. Another start to a new week. After running for the past 3 days today is a rest day, but decided Yoga would do the body good. I chose the Hip Opening Flow from yogadownload.com. Today, I will be doing something out of the norm for me. I will stepping outside of my comfort zone to attend my first Blogger Meet N Mingle. For me to go out alone to meet people for the first time is a big deal. Where I’ve always wanted to participate in things over the years my shyness tends to overtake the will. I’ll be sure to follow up with that story tomorrow. I’m a big reader and sometimes I like a light read and Sophie Kinsella is one of my favorites. After reading all of her stand alone titles I am … Read entire article »

Spring Cleaning
How was your Saturday? My day started with a practice from yogadownload. Today was Yoga for buns. Then I spent most of the day Spring cleaning. There is nothing better than a top to bottom clean house. It just gives me an oh so happy feeling. I know, strange, right? Funny, how we schedule time to clean our houses but what about taking inventory of our bodies to clean up our health and fitness needs too? I know I have some cobwebs and dust bunnies lurking around upsetting the balance of optimal health. When is the last time you did a little spring cleaning on your health? Noah and Schotzie wondering why there was so much fuss about a clean house. Oh, but they are not complaining or they would be in the, dare I say it, dog … Read entire article »

Keeping the faith
Hope you are having a great weekend! After yesterday’s not so successful training run I noticed that my left leg from piriformis down my hamstring to just below my knee was a bit on the tight and irritated side. Erring on the side of caution I nixed my run this morning and opted for a yoga routine from Yoga Download. Have you given them a try? It is an easy way to get a Yoga workout for your exact needs. I love this website. Today I chose a gentle Hatha flow which seemed to really help stretch my sore leg. With only 2 weeks from today before the Vermont marathon I think I will go see P/T Bob for some help and then my chiropractor who has a fantastic adjustment that seems to work perfectly when this area gets … Read entire article »
