Accountability

Accountability

ac·count·a·ble (-kount-bl) adj. 1. Liable to being called to account; answerable. See Synonyms at responsible.  2. That can be explained: an accountable phenomenon. It has now been over a month since I ran my last marathon and I am in much need of accountability.  I know that some may find accountability scary, but it motivates me.  When things get tough and my lazy self wants to take control knowing that I have committed to a challenge … Read entire article »

Where I’ve Been & Where I’m going

It feels a little funny to be talking about getting ready for another marathon so quickly.  Last weekend was my last double long runs with a 16 miler on Saturday and a 10 miler on Sunday. I tried to keep the pace at the 30-60  second slower than marathon pace and brought the route out through a very beautiful area of South Dartmouth.  This weekend I got in another double digit run, but this time I had company.  I got the chance to run with my friend Karen again.  She will be heading up to the same marathon which makes this upcoming trip even better. After the Boston marathon disaster, I needed to get a better handle of hydration in warmer conditions.  It was clear that even thought I thought I was … Read entire article »

Finishing Touches

Finishing Touches

Coming off a step back mileage week, not of choice but out of necessity, I felt this week’s training allowed me to put some of those finishing touches on my training.  The week was a bit of a renewal.  Every marathon training has it lows and I believe I’m finally over them and springing up with strength, determination and confidence. Keeping Pace: Boston Training I am following the Hanson’s Less Is More Plan where speed, strength and … Read entire article »

Staying Positive

Staying Positive

Ok, so the last few weeks of training have been difficult to say the least.  Started with the blister, next came the buttocks/hamstring pain and just when that calmed down my rouge rib decided to throw it’s hat into the drama.  OH MY! Did you know that a rib could move out of place and cause extreme pain and muscle spasms?  I know it sounds weird, but can happen for many reasons as simple as a … Read entire article »
