A Little Inspiration

When it comes to inspiration where do you turn?  Today I watched my saved broadcast of the Boston Marathon.  Because I had gone into Boston to watch the runners pass along the course at mile marker 19 and knew the outcome of the elite race I never felt the need to watch my DVR entry until today.  I am so glad I waited.  It was exactly what I needed today.  In 2 days I will be lacing up my shoes to once again take on 26.2 miles.  Sometimes you just need a little inspiration or moments of captured emotions you can recall to pull you through those rough patches. Although this time around I am not yet nervous (sure to hit race day) I do now have the excitement butterflies fluttering … Read entire article »

Marathon Monday

Marathon Monday

Today was the first time I’ve ventured up to Boston to actually be a spectator at the Boston Marathon.  I’m fortunate that my brother lives in Newton just a short walk from Mile 19. Seems like everyone was interested in cheering on the athletes today even Bean! A Moment

It has been 5 days since my last race and I am still riding the runner’s high.  Having run a half marathon both Sunday and then the following Saturday it was the first time I’ve ever attempted to run 2 long distance races in the same week.  I do love this feeling but I am so nervous for the crash and burn post race depression to hit.   Looking back over the last 5 weeks I’ve run the following races: Hyannis Half Marathon Black Cat 10 Miler Ras Na Heireann 5K St. Pat’s 5K New Bedford Half Marathon National Half Marathon My chiropractor was well informed of my crazy race endeavors and we kept my body finely tuned to prevent injury.  I am happy to say I was able to run each race pain free.  Thanks Dr. G! I have … Read entire article »

Celebrations

Happy Monday! Usually I am not so happy on Mondays.  Monday is my least favorite day of the week but today I am not at work (scheduled vacation day) which allowed me to put in another long training run and watch the Boston Marathon.  I was so routing for Ryan Hall winning his first Boston, however today was not his day.  He came in men’s 4th overall which is still such a huge accomplishment.  Way to go Ryan! I logged another 10 miles this morning.  A little slower than yesterday but I felt good.  The sun is out today but it was a little more windy than yesterday.  I think I prefer a more overcast slight breeze and drizzle for a long run than a bright sunny gusty day.  What are your favorite conditions to run? Today … Read entire article »

Favorite things

My day started with a 10 mile training run.  A dense fog quickly burned off leaving bright blue skies.   Unfortunately I left the sunglasses at home and became a squinter. Miles: 10.34  – Time: 1:37 – Pace: 9:20 Views from the run – Padanaram Harbor  The most important thing I learned today was that I should not do speed work the day before a long run.  I typically feel very comfortable running 10 miles, but today my legs were a little tired. After the run I was a Starvin Marvin…so hungry!  I decided on Eat Clean french toast with Greek yogurt and fruit.  Oh, and hubby brought me home a Dunkin Donuts Ice Coffee.  I take it black so I can add my own almond milk and stevia.   While out on the run I got … Read entire article »
