Black Cat 10 Miler, A Day of Wicked Fun

Black Cat 10 Miler, A Day of Wicked Fun

Today I was up at 4am to make the hour and 40 minute drive to Salem, MA best known for being the home of the infamous Salem Witchcraft Trials of 1692, however today some 600 runners stormed  the streets for either a 10 or 20 mile run. It was a great day for a run.  Started out a bit chilly with some light rain, but by race time it was cloudy and 50’s.  Perfect day to … Read entire article »

Appalled To Awed

I am a little behind on magazine reading because I’ve become a blog reading fool.  Today I read two articles that moved me in two totally different ways.  It’s funny how emotions are easily drawn out of you by mere words on a page.   Did you hear about the Krispy Kreme Challenge in Raleigh, NC?  It is basically a 4 mile run with a donut break in the middle.  The participants run 2 miles, gorge themselves with 12 donuts, then run another 2 miles to finish.  What?!!?  To me this is just pure crazy and not crazy fun, but just crazy abuse to the body.  Each donut is 200 calories and 10 grams of sugar.  200×12 people, let’s get a grip here.  I understand it may be for a good cause, … Read entire article »

Running on dreams

Happy Weekend!  This morning started a little off.  It all started when my alarm woke me from a strange dream.  A dream about the day before I was to run a marathon, but I got lost and could not remember the name of my hotel and the funny thing was that the name of the hotel was the name of a friend with me the whole time who is not a friend or for that fact even a real person but a character on a soap opera and one that I can not stand on the show!  (deep breath)   How bizarre!  I typically do not remember having dreams, but when I do they are long epic story lines.  Do you often remember your dreams? After dragging my groggy self out of bed I got ready for my 5 mile run.  With my new … Read entire article »

Wonder Woman?

Happy 4th of July!  I hope you are all having a fantastic and safe weekend!  I am so thankful to our service men and women who continue to serve our country to defend our freedoms.  (source) It was a warm morning here in New England.  I think that I will have to be up and running a lot earlier on my weekend runs as training progresses to beat the heat.      Today’s distance was 9 miles, completed in 1:24 again at a quicker pace than the plan required.  It’s a topic I’ve been speaking about over the last few posts and then with the arrival of the newest Runner’s World issue my fears have been realized.  Recovery runs and paces should be honored to allow your body the adequate time to heal and prepare for the next … Read entire article »

Take it to the road

Hope you are having a fabulous weekend. This morning I started with a nice 5.5 mile run at an overall pace of 9:06.  The other day I mentioned my dilemma of when to run my next marathon.  I had narrowed it to either October or November so today I took that problem to the road.  Over the years, I have taken many concerns out on a run to come back with clear decisions.  Do you do that too?  After the run I had a healthy filling breakfast of a Stuffed French Toast.  Did I say stuffed?      Oh, yes I did! Easy and Clean Stuffed French Toast 1 Ezekiel 4:9 Cinnamon Raisin English Muffin Egg Whites Cinnamon Smart Balance  Laughing Cow Swiss cheese spread Maple Syrup It is a close rival to pancakes.  The other day Anne shared a wonderful recipe for a Cheesy Avocado Tuna Sandwich which was … Read entire article »
