A New Love?
First thing I must do is wish my fur baby a very happy 13th birthday. She is still a puppy at heart. Love my Noah girl! A couple of weeks ago I mentioned hitting the driving range in my Supplement The Run post. Well the main reason I was hitting the range was to prepare (if that was even possible) for our department Scramble Golf Tournament at beautiful golf course a few minutes from the office. … Read entire article »
Let’s Go Racing!
After taking a year off from running any of the short distance races in my local area I laced up my shoes and went out for 2 races. Fairhaven Road Race – June 19th When I crossed the finish line it was not a 10K PR, but it was a PR for this particular route. In 2007 I completed it in 59:27 and in 2009 I completed it in 55:56 so taking another 2 minutes off my time on this course and only being a minute shy of my overall 10K PR made me extremely happy. Mattapoisett Road Race – July 4th There is something about running a race on a holiday. It creates an an extra special vibe or excitement. Today was no exception. Back in 2008 I completed this race in … Read entire article »
Leaves Of Fun
A cyclone of leaves swirled in from of me several times on my morning run. It was a very blustery 4.5 miles of fun. Well, I think it was 4.5 miles it may have been a little more but less than 5. The Garmin Forerunner was not operational…bummer! I came back with an hankering for Pumpkin Pancakes. Yummy, can you tell? Good to the last crumbs. Fall in New England means leaves. Many, many leaves. In my … Read entire article »
Sweet Sadness
When you lose someone that you not only love but respect there are certain days of the year which seem harder than others. Today I am missing my father. Not only because it is Father’s Day, but tomorrow he would have celebrated his 68th birthday. He was such a big influence on my life and a loving example of living a christian way of life. Kris shared a chocolate treat on her beautifully redesigned blog that was so heavenly. I took her recipe and added my own little twist and I enjoyed every bite. Clean Chocolate Bark 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa Splash of maple syrup 2 tsp coconut oil 8-10 almonds 5 pecans 2 tbsp raisins 4 Mary Gone Crackers First make your chocolate mixture by adding the top 3 ingredients together and stir until smooth. Add all of your nuts, dried fruits or crunchy … Read entire article »

Protein Time
Last month during a meeting with my health coach, one subject came up again. Protein. In that meeting he recommended that I track my protein intake a few days a week to see where I am at. I discovered that I was indeed short from where we thought was adequate for my level/commitment to running /fitness so I started looking for clean ways to get more protein. I discovered Vega, Shake and Go Smoothie that offers 12 grams of plant based protein yumminess. When I ordered the Shake and Go I also got a few individual packets of Vega Sport Protein which has 20 grams of protein. This morning after my morning run of 6.30 miles at a decent pace of 9:16, I gave this product a try by mixing it in … Read entire article »
