Run with Passion

After Wednesday’s confession of being a bit of a cranky face because I had not run in a few days I broke the cycle with a 4.5 miler. It was windy yet warmer than I anticipated but I still wanted to wear my new Chilly Half Marathon fleece hat. Love it! I found that I was a bit more sore than I thought I would be but it my opinion running with a light easy effort helps in reducing soreness. Have you discovered this in your workouts too? Yesterday I read an inspiring recap of a first time marathoner. Tricia is not only a marathoner but more that that she is a strong, amazing woman. Way to go girl! Thank you for sharing your story and letting us all share in your … Read entire article »

Giveaway Time

Giveaway Time

Did you enjoy your extra hour of sleep?   I did not change my clock last night before going to bed because I wanted to get up early for my 12 mile run and get back in time to watch the NYC Marathon.  Except for some odd reason I slept in!  Not wicked late, just to 6:15am, but enough to put a little pressure in my Sunday morning.   In the end it all worked out fine.  I got the 12 very … Read entire article »

Marathoner Low

Marathoner Low

OK, so almost a week ago I ran my 4th marathon setting a new PR and I was experiencing the Marathoner High only to be quickly followed by the Marathoner Low. There is just something about the days following a big race that sends me into a frenzy leaving me with the question, where did the girl who was so focused and driven for the past 16 weeks go?  The week of the race I had my annual … Read entire article »

Marathoner High

Marathoner High

I was up before the crack of dawn.  4:30am to be exact.  It was Marathon Day today and I had a 45 minute drive to catch the shuttle bus from the parking area at the Newport Grand over to Easton Beach. Yesterday, I was a bit disappointed with the expo, but the race director was on game with the actual event.  Everything was well organized and it was just, easy.  From the shuttle, to desnigated athlete area, … Read entire article »

To Be Or Not To Be

To Be Or Not To Be

Will I be running marathon #4 this weekend or not, that has been the question going through my mind since Tuesday morning. The day started out like any other normal morning.  I got up for a 5 mile run and felt fine, but somewhere between mile 1 and 2 I felt a tiny catch in my right rib cage again.  I say again because the same thing happened to a smaller degree after a long run in … Read entire article »

Silence

Not sure that many people would have noticed but I have been M.I.A. this week.  I’ve been in a much needed time of reflection and prayer. Sometimes silence is a good thing.  It is renewing.  It allows you to just listen and learn.  No need to react or speak.  It allows you to just be.   When last I posted I had just completed a 22 mile training run, the last mega long run before marathon day.  Yeah!  This week began the taper.  With the taper came the run-down Bekah and now I am fighting off a cold but the immune system seems to be winning the battle.   Taper week 1 in review Monday – rest day Tuesday – 8 miles scheduled, but only got 6 miles in.  Reason? ·        Dressed … Read entire article »
