A First And A Last

A First And A Last

Today I ran my first race of 2012 and my last as a 30-something runner.  I will be turning 40 three days before my next race.  Eek! That is so hard to think about, but seeing as I cannot stop time I need to just embrace it.  I was excited to run this race again because last year it snowed and I was unable to experience the course to its fullest.  Today the sun was … Read entire article »

Dark Day of Winter

Our New England weather as been mild to say the least.  Until Friday that is.  We got about an inch on Friday, but it had stopped before my morning run leaving me a nice snow cushioned path.  Saturday, however we were hit with our first real snow storm of the season.  I believe it was around 5-7 inches by the time it finally stopped.  Unfortunately I got a late start for my run and it was just beginning to snow when I left.  By the time I got back the streets were covered and it was coming down at a furious rate.  If only I had gotten out the hour earlier I anticipated I would have all but missed it.  Either way I enjoyed the miles.  I have to say … Read entire article »

3 Picks

Over the last two weeks I’ve tried a few new products worthy of review.  Coconut Butter is something I’ve been reading about on blogs for awhile but never tried.  Here’s what Artisana says about their Raw Organic Coconut Butter: Warm it up, mix it up, and spread the flavor! Freshly made from whole coconut flesh, Raw Coconut Butter is a whole food, not just oil. This delicious “cream” melts in your mouth with full coconut flavor and aroma, … Read entire article »

Snow, Rain and 13.1 Miles

Snow, Rain and 13.1 Miles

This morning I did not expect to see this on my way to Hyannis to run the half marathon. This road looks a bit desolate and I was cruising along until a visitor pulled out of a hiding place.  My heart stopped and I thought for sure I was going to be pulled over.  Strange thing was he decided to follow me for several miles then slowly passed me….whew, thank you Mr. State Trooper. I got to the … Read entire article »

Getting Ready For Race 1 of 2011

Getting Ready For Race 1 of 2011

Do you get excited before a race?  I do! Tomorrow I run my first race of the 2011 season.  Cape Cod here I come.  I am really looking forward to running with a pack of runners, some friends and some strangers.  Either way it is all good.  Runners in general are friendly and welcoming group.   So much of my time running is spent training alone so it is such a pleasure to feel the power of the … Read entire article »

Race Madness

A few weeks ago I had penciled in a few races that I wanted to run and now I have inked 5 races into the calendar.  It’s official I am running the following races: Hyannis Half Marathon Black Cat 10 Miler St. Pat’s 5K New Bedford Half Marathon National Half Marathon What’s crazy about this is that these races take place between 2/27 and 3/26.  Five races in one month’s time, what was I thinking??? I was thinking that I needed motivation. (Hyannis) That I needed a fun training run. (Black Cat) That I wanted to celebrate. (St. Pat’s 5K) That I needed a challenge. (New Bedford Half) That I need a get-a-way. (National) Even though there are a few icy patches around due to all the rain we received the last 2 days, I was happy to get my 5 mile … Read entire article »
