Let’s Go Racing!

After taking a year off from running any of the short distance races in my local area I laced up my shoes and went out for 2 races. Fairhaven Road Race – June 19th When I crossed the finish line it was not a 10K PR, but it was a PR for this particular route.  In 2007 I completed it in 59:27 and in 2009 I completed it in 55:56 so taking another 2 minutes off my time on this course and only being a minute shy of my overall 10K PR made me extremely happy. Mattapoisett Road Race – July 4th    There is something about running a race on a holiday.  It creates an an extra special vibe or excitement.  Today was no exception.  Back in 2008 I completed this race in … Read entire article »

When It Comes to…

When It Comes to…

When it comes to running shoes I tend to lean on the “experts” of running stores for guidance.  However it usually is a hit or miss on what is best for me and my feet.  I’ve always been directed toward a stability shoe.  Last week I saw a new chiropractor and had some A.R.T (active release technique) again.  It has been almost a year since my last A.R.T session and knew it was about time.  … Read entire article »

Shoe Drama

Shoe Drama

A couple of weekends ago I purchased a new pair of shoes.  Running shoes.  A new pair of running shoes always makes me giddy.  Usually I want to lace up that same day and start breaking them in, however due to all the icy road conditions I had to wait until this week to take these new rides out for run. When I read the favorable comments I  got on my first post about the purchase … Read entire article »

Living For The Weekend

Living For The Weekend

Where to begin?  Big weekend of friendship, shopping, baking and of course running.  How was your weekend? I was able to get my long run in on Friday so my Saturday run was a quick recovery run of 4 easy miles.  It was warmer (26 degrees) and the roads seemed less icy which was definitely a plus.  I had Saturday plans with a good friend so I had to hurry and hit the road for our … Read entire article »

Weathering Moods

Weathering Moods

It is a beautiful sunny yet extremely windy Saturday.   My mood is taking its cues from the weather too.  I am staying positive (sunny) yet unpredictable (windy).  After Tuesday’s rib set back I rested and did not get back on the road until Friday evening.  I decided to take a test drive to see how the ribs would react with the lungs expanding out on a run.  2.5 miles later I was high-fiving The Hubby with high … Read entire article »

Asics to Fuzzy slippers

Asics to Fuzzy slippers

Whew, the last long run of marathon #4 training is done.  22 miles in 3:32:33 at a 9:39 pace I’m not going to say it was all easy.  For sure it had it’s moments, but I was able to overcome old doubts trying to resurface.  I pushed them out of my mind and stayed focused on the goal at hand.  This is exactly the attitude that I need to duplicate on race day. Never did I think that my comfort mileage … Read entire article »
