Germs be gone!

Sunday is step #2 in my goal of running 4 half marathons this year.  I ran the New Bedford Half in March and this weekend is the Shape Up RI Half Marathon in Providence.   I was so excited to use this race as my long training run as I prepare for the Key Bank Vermont City Marathon.  I was also hoping that this weekend would be the race I could use to set a new half marathon PR.   My current PR was set in Salem, MA at the Wicked Half Marathon.  I’ve run this race twice and only missed it last year because I was still nursing a foot injury.   This is such a great course, so challenging, beautiful and perfectly organized.  However, this morning when I woke up with a sore throat and stuffy nose … Read entire article »

Just Decide

A few days back I referred to an unexpected opportunity that presented itself in which I had to make a choice to accept or decline.  After much consideration and discussion with Hubby the decision was made.  Let’s just say it was a stressful few days.  There were pros and cons for making the change or staying in my current position.  Now I must learn to live with the cons of this choice.  Honestly, the first day after turning down the job I felt if I had made a huge mistake.  I got to the point of utter frustration, then the words, Just Decide, flashed in my head like a light bulb moment.    I have to Just Decide to be calm.  Just decide to be happy.  Just decide to move forward.  Just decide to … Read entire article »

I am so excited to finally have RunTrackMind up and running (no pun intended) the way I wanted.  It has been a work in progress since day one.  This morning I had a wonderful breakfast. Rewind

Rewind to Saturday.  It was very scary long run.  20 miles!  Ok, so by now I should have more confidence in my body’s ability to go the distance.  I only have 4 week more of training until the Key Bank Vermont City Marathon.  But I will be honest and say I am a little apprehensive.  I was not overly excited about the final overall pace reading on the old Garmin, but I had some great moments of  in the zone running.  Have you ever experienced that feeling of what I call in the zone running?  It is the most  incredible feeling of heart and legs working together with what seems as zero effort.  I love those moments and I did have a few of those yesterday.   Too bad it doesn’t last … Read entire article »

New Horizon?

Sorry to be M.I.A. lately.  Life often throws us crazy craters that can rock our status quo.  That is what happen to my world this week.  What do you do when you are confronted with a wonderful opportunity but making another change was just so unexpected?  Funny thing is that not to long ago I was questioning my current direction and now that I have been presented with the fork in the road I do not know which path to follow.  Maybe I can take it to the road tomorrow.   I definitely will have the time to weigh all the pros and cons as I run my 20 mile training run in the morning.  Gulp!    I feel like I have been eating all day today preparing for these 20 miles.  Breakfast:  Red Bob Mill Scottish Oatmeal with 2 … Read entire article »

Celebrations

Happy Monday! Usually I am not so happy on Mondays.  Monday is my least favorite day of the week but today I am not at work (scheduled vacation day) which allowed me to put in another long training run and watch the Boston Marathon.  I was so routing for Ryan Hall winning his first Boston, however today was not his day.  He came in men’s 4th overall which is still such a huge accomplishment.  Way to go Ryan! I logged another 10 miles this morning.  A little slower than yesterday but I felt good.  The sun is out today but it was a little more windy than yesterday.  I think I prefer a more overcast slight breeze and drizzle for a long run than a bright sunny gusty day.  What are your favorite conditions to run? Today … Read entire article »
