Perfect Day

It’s a warm one here today in New England.  My day started with a 6 mile run at a 9:13 pace.  At first the morning air felt dry with a nice breeze, so I decided that I would run without the fuel belt, but as the miles clicked by the air became more humid and I wished I had some water.  I guess the harder I work now the stronger I will become. Daily Lesson Learned:  Way too hot and unwise to not bring liquids on each run.      I replenished with a large Green Monster with the protein of  Vega Shake & Go Smoothie to beef it up.  Shake and Go Protein is quickly becoming a favorite. Because I try to follow a natural lifestyle when it comes to cleaning the house I like to use less harsh … Read entire article »

Sweet Sadness

When you lose someone that you not only love but respect there are certain days of the year which seem harder than others.  Today I am missing my father.  Not only because it is Father’s Day, but tomorrow he would have celebrated his 68th birthday.  He was such a big influence on my life and a loving example of living a christian way of life. Kris shared a chocolate treat on her beautifully redesigned blog that was so heavenly. I took her recipe and added my own little twist and I enjoyed every bite.  Clean Chocolate Bark 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa Splash of maple syrup 2 tsp coconut oil 8-10 almonds 5 pecans 2 tbsp raisins 4 Mary Gone Crackers First make your chocolate mixture by adding the top 3 ingredients together and stir until smooth.  Add all of your nuts, dried fruits or crunchy … Read entire article »

Protein Time

Last month during a meeting with my health coach, one subject came up again.  Protein.  In that meeting he recommended that I track my protein intake a few days a week to see where I am at.  I discovered that I was indeed short from where we thought was adequate for my level/commitment to running /fitness so I started looking for clean ways to get more protein. I discovered Vega, Shake and Go Smoothie  that offers 12 grams of plant based protein yumminess.  When I ordered the Shake and Go I also got a few individual packets of Vega Sport Protein which has 20 grams of protein.  This morning after my morning run of 6.30 miles at a decent pace of 9:16, I gave this product a try by mixing it in … Read entire article »

Spring Cleaning

How was your Saturday? My day started with a practice from yogadownload.  Today was Yoga for buns. Then I spent most of  the day Spring cleaning.  There is nothing better than a top to bottom clean house.  It just gives me an oh so happy feeling.  I know, strange, right? Funny, how we schedule time to clean our houses but what about taking inventory of our bodies to clean up our health and fitness needs too?  I know I have some cobwebs and dust bunnies lurking around upsetting the balance of optimal health.  When is the last time you did a little spring cleaning on your health?    Noah and Schotzie wondering why there was so much fuss about a clean house.  Oh, but they are not complaining or they would be in the, dare I say it, dog … Read entire article »

Cereal Obsession

Happy Mother’s Day!  We have had a nice day today celebrating my mom.  I have often said that if I could be just half the woman she is then I would be doing OK.  My mom has been an incredible role model of love, faith and family.  I love you mom. OK, so I have a confession to make.  I have a little obsession with cereal.  Funny thing is I do not eat it for breakfast but as snacks and usually top it with healthy goodies.  Strange?  Or are there others like me?  Last night I chose Barbara’s Bakery Shredded Spoonfuls Multigrain with almond milk topped with dates, chia seeds a few chopped walnuts.  Do you have a favorite cereal? This morning I ran 6 miles in very windy and chilly conditions.  Extremely atypical for May, … Read entire article »

Hot! Hot! Hot!

What a perfect day for a run.  It was slightly overcast with a light breeze just enough to keep me cool.    17.64 miles in just under 3 hours at 9:57 pace – I was a little bummed to be short of my target 19 mile goal for the day.   Immediately in ice water…..my feet were on fire! I felt cardio and leg strong today however around mile 14 the balls of my feet were so irritated and hot, hot, hot that I just did not see the point on pushing through the pain when I can easily add 2 miles onto next weeks long run.  Because I had completely worn out my Asics Gel 3010 and they were not available to purchase yesterday I decided the lesser of two evils would be to wear these … Read entire article »
