Race Recap: United Healthcare Providence Half Marathon

Race Recap: United Healthcare Providence Half Marathon

In another last minute decision I thought I would head over to Providence and run not only my 3rd half marathon of 2012 but also my 3rd United Healthcare Providence half. My pre-race dinner consisted of a juicy hamburger with the best gluten free bun I’ve had the pleasure of eating.  Over the last few months I’ve gone mostly to a gluten free diet.  I do still on occasion opt for a non-gluten free choice, but … Read entire article »

Still Chasing The Unicorn

Still Chasing The Unicorn

Today I should be a Boston Marathoner.  I had big dreams, but God had other plans. The day started out in bright colorful running gear but quickly turned to just a crumpled tattered bib. When I woke yesterday I had a few nerves, but by taking the bus up to Hopkinton with my running club it was a much easier wait than I anticipated.  I felt great.  No stomach issues and zero injuries.  I felt strong and … Read entire article »

I’m What?

I’m What?

Three days ago I turned, gulp, 40 years old.  Very hard to believe that another decade has passed.  Funny thing is I had an extremely difficult time turning 30, but I am honestly embracing the 40. Seriously, why shouldn’t I?  It’s merely a number.  It reflects only what I want it to.  If I feel old, then I am old.  If I feel young and vibrant then that is what I am.  I celebrated by taking … Read entire article »

A First And A Last

A First And A Last

Today I ran my first race of 2012 and my last as a 30-something runner.  I will be turning 40 three days before my next race.  Eek! That is so hard to think about, but seeing as I cannot stop time I need to just embrace it.  I was excited to run this race again because last year it snowed and I was unable to experience the course to its fullest.  Today the sun was … Read entire article »

Dark Day of Winter

Our New England weather as been mild to say the least.  Until Friday that is.  We got about an inch on Friday, but it had stopped before my morning run leaving me a nice snow cushioned path.  Saturday, however we were hit with our first real snow storm of the season.  I believe it was around 5-7 inches by the time it finally stopped.  Unfortunately I got a late start for my run and it was just beginning to snow when I left.  By the time I got back the streets were covered and it was coming down at a furious rate.  If only I had gotten out the hour earlier I anticipated I would have all but missed it.  Either way I enjoyed the miles.  I have to say … Read entire article »

A Rear View Mirror Reflection

A Rear View Mirror Reflection

2011 is now in the rear view mirror. There have been year end review shows, lists of the best of and the worst of, top headlines, and even the best songs of the year.  When I look back over the year I can see life’s triumphs, lessons and even loss that have accumulated.  Even though I try to live life in the present with an occasional glance at the future, I think that it is important … Read entire article »
