Less Than Desired: A Race Recap

Less Than Desired: A Race Recap

Yesterday I ran my 5th half marathon of 2012 in beautiful Falmouth, MA.  This was the first race in Cape Cod for Zooma Women’s Race Series.  So the big question of the day was if it is a women’s race, why were there guys running?  Hmmmmmm. I ended up going up the night before the race because there was not a same day bib pickup option.  The race location was at Sea Crest Beach Inn, which … Read entire article »

Getting What You Deserve

Getting What You Deserve

If you put in mediocre training you get mediocre results.  Today I ran the Surftown Half Marathon in beautiful Westerly, RI.  The start finish line was at Misquamicut Beach which is a very quaint beach community with all the little shops, hotels and food shacks that you can imagine. It was an hour and half drive so I was up at 4 am and out the door by 5 to pick up my race packet at … Read entire article »

Here We Go Again-Dual Race Time

Here We Go Again-Dual Race Time

Accountability

Accountability

ac·count·a·ble (-kount-bl) adj. 1. Liable to being called to account; answerable. See Synonyms at responsible.  2. That can be explained: an accountable phenomenon. It has now been over a month since I ran my last marathon and I am in much need of accountability.  I know that some may find accountability scary, but it motivates me.  When things get tough and my lazy self wants to take control knowing that I have committed to a challenge … Read entire article »

The Beauty Of Marathon #5

The Beauty Of Marathon #5

A week ago I finished my 5th marathon, the KeyBank Vermont City Marathon in Burlington, VT.  After my last two marathon attempts and DNF’s I really needed this race to be in a word, successful. I decided to give my legs the best chance to be relaxed prior to Sunday, so I drove up to Vermont on Friday night.  The problem was that the Friday before Memorial Day’s long weekend proved to be an extremely busy … Read entire article »

Where I’ve Been & Where I’m going

It feels a little funny to be talking about getting ready for another marathon so quickly.  Last weekend was my last double long runs with a 16 miler on Saturday and a 10 miler on Sunday. I tried to keep the pace at the 30-60  second slower than marathon pace and brought the route out through a very beautiful area of South Dartmouth.  This weekend I got in another double digit run, but this time I had company.  I got the chance to run with my friend Karen again.  She will be heading up to the same marathon which makes this upcoming trip even better. After the Boston marathon disaster, I needed to get a better handle of hydration in warmer conditions.  It was clear that even thought I thought I was … Read entire article »
