Share Your Passions
Saturday night was my 20 year high school reunion and I mentioned my concerns about attending but I am here happy to say it was enlightening. Sometimes you just have to step outside of your comfort zone, again. You have to just have faith in yourself that you are strong enough, worth enough. And when you do dreams are attainable, skies the limit. This night showed me life is to short to dwell on what if’s or … Read entire article »

Marathoner Low
OK, so almost a week ago I ran my 4th marathon setting a new PR and I was experiencing the Marathoner High only to be quickly followed by the Marathoner Low. There is just something about the days following a big race that sends me into a frenzy leaving me with the question, where did the girl who was so focused and driven for the past 16 weeks go? The week of the race I had my annual … Read entire article »

Do The Work
Remember back when you were in school and your parents use to tell you it pays to do your homework? Two weeks ago my Health Coach gave me some homework and today was the test. I’m happy to say I passed with flying colors! Of course this is the type of homework I like….eating! By making sure that my calorie intake was 2000 and doing at least 2 strength workouts per week my weight came back down which of course changed the fat/lean ratio too. Wahoo! Daily Lesson Learned: Under eating is not a solution to weight management for a long distance athlete. After week 1 I dropped off a food log for his review. I might have mentioned it before, but I use My Plate from Livestrong.com which is easy to use, contains all my favorite foods and … Read entire article »

Missed The Pack
It was so wonderful to wake up for this mornings run to see that the stars and moon were shining brightly. No rain in sight! As I had mentioned yesterday I’ve maxed out my weekday mileage to 8 so for the next couple of weeks when my schedule calls for the 9 or 10 mile mid week run I will have to run The Double. It has been more than a year since I have done this, but know that it works great for getting your mileage in when you have time constraints. This training technique is one that I would not use more than once a week and not for the long run unless I was without any other way. Your body is still able to reap the benefits of this longer run even though … Read entire article »

New Cure All?
Happy Sunday all! Today’s long run was suppose to be 15 miles. As you can see I achieved 14.25 miles. I just did not see the need to push it any further. Last night around 7pm I felt a headache coming on and hoped that if caught earlier enough my homeopathic remedy would do its magic. Where it did keep the headache from blowing up into epic proportion it did not stop it completely which I realized at around 3am. So at that time I got up to take more and prayed that the next few hours of sleep would provide the much needed rest for my morning run. At 6:15 I crawled out of bed and down the stairs not only with the headache but a feeling of utter exhaustion but I … Read entire article »
