Yoga & Pancakes

I find that running 3 days in a row is not the best for my body so this morning I woke up and knew it would be a yoga day.  Exercise TV is a great way to add variety to your fitness routine.  This morning I discovered Jillian Michael’s Yoga Meltdown.

Today I started out with the Level 1 option which was a great 30 minute workout.  Check out Exercise TV’s description:

Level 1 workout focuses on quick flowing yoga sequences to burn mega calories. Then progress to Level 2 which adds twists and balance poses for an even greater burn.

After my workout I decided it was time for Sunday pancakes.  I apologize that they did not last long enough for a photo, but they were so fantastic.  Today, I used a blend of equal parts Spelt, Brown Rice and Coconut flours.  I had to add a little more liquid to the mix so I opted to use a little coconut water and I think that plus the added Coconut flour made the difference.  Delish!   With the pancakes I tried my first Vega Shake & Go Smoothie.  I’ve heard great things about the product and since I have used other Vega products I wanted to give this a try too.

Love It!  Here is what Sequel Naturals say on their website:

Vega Shake & Go Smoothie is a delicious, healthy, plant-based beverage ideal for the entire family. Packed full of nutrients including protein, fibre, Omega-3, probiotics and greens, it combines whole food goodness with fast food convenience.  • Two servings of veggies  • 2500 mg Omega-3-6-9  • 11 g complete protein  • Only 100 calories   • 1 billion probiotics cultures

Women’s Running  magazine always ends with a page which is a reflection of why a certain runner chooses to run.  I find these pages both motivating and inspiring.

It got me thinking, why do I run?  I’ve been running for so long and through out the years I am sure the reason why has changed many times.  Why Do I Run?  I run for the experience.  I enjoy to the sounds, smells and sights and I believe running makes me a stronger, confident women which makes me a better wife, daughter, doggie mom and friend.

My Question To You -  Why do you run?

I normally don’t workout on Sundays, but I missed my workout yesterday so will do some cardio later. How is this yoga dvd?

OMG, I can’t believe that I forgot to comment on my thoughts on the workout…guess those pancakes got me all in a dizzy. ;) The workout was good. It was not a relaxing yoga routine because all poses were held or transitioned into working the muscles more than stretching. Actually, when I woke up the next morning my quads were a little tender. Overall, it was a fun and rewarding time spent but not the yoga you want if you want that long lean stretched feeling the next day.

I don’t do too well with three straight days of running either. Yoga is a must!

I feel like I run for so many different reasons. Ultimately, I just love how running makes me feel – mind and body.
