Inspiration

How was your Hump Day?

There comes a point in every training schedule that you can decide to excel or give in.  I have officially reached that point.  I am just over a week out from race day and my confidence has waned.

I think last weekend’s long run has me questioning my ability to complete another 26.2 miles.  I’ve struggled since being sick and now this week my ITB has reared it’s ugly head.

Of course, now is the time to gather strength and inspiration and not let fear take over.  Fear is such a lousy bed fellow, don’t you think?  He is a player and a thief.  Fear plays on our insecurities causing us to believe his lies and then steals moments from our lives by stopping us from achieving our goals.

Last night I watched Daris from the Biggest Loser run his first marathon after just losing 151 pounds in 5 months.  Part of me cringes when I see this show giving these contestants just 30 days to train for a marathon but the other part of me was so impressed with his accomplishment.  4 hours and 2 minutes is fantastic.  He beat Koli, then next BL to finish by 2 hours!  Of course they have been working out 6-8 hours a day for the last 5 months in a controlled environment with 2 top trainers so I guess I can understand their ability to finish this feat, but I am not convinced it is either safe or smart on the show’s part.

I also watched American Idol’s final 3 sing for their dreams too.  I have been a HUGE fan of Lee DeWyze from day one and was so excited for his successful night.  Here again is a person with major goals for his life who is well on the way to achieving the final prize.  Lee spent most of the season overcoming his insecurites and self confidence in his own talent, but last night he was a superstar!

My point of this little rabbit trail is to say that I was inspired by both Daris’ marathon time and Lee’s ability to overcome his self doubts.  Now, the big question is will I use this to move forward?

Where do you find inspiration?

On a Food Topic:  The other day I reviewedan organic bar I tried with less than positive feedback.  Well today I tried it again as a topping to my snack and it was actually very good.  I topped half a bannana with Trader Joe’s raw almond butter and the Nutiva Hemp Chocolate organic bar and it was delish!
