1096 Miles
I ran just over 1,000 miles in 2011. This is about 200 miles short of last year, so I am hoping for a bigger number in 2012.
Keeping Pace: Boston Training
Week 4: (shows what the Hanson’s Less-Is-More Plan has on schedule)
Monday: (0-6 miles)
My strength building day. Started the morning with a Jillian Michaels DVD, her new Extreme Shed and Shred. Great mix of her normal circuits with yoga, kickboxing, and some martial arts thrown in to keep things very interesting.
Tuesday: (Speed)
Warm up, 4×800 at 10K with 400 jog, cool down. I had nothing to give so I tried to keep it a very consistent pace even on the jog portion. I felt very defeated after this workout.
Wednesday: (Off)
Thursday: MP6
Jillian Michaels DVD, Six Pack….strong core=strong runner! Switched out Thursday for Friday as I have not yet added the 5th run day into my schedule.
Friday: (3-6)
Ran Thursday’s MP6. This was an amazing workout! I felt so relaxed and comfortable and I hit my MP which is a miracle for this early in the morning. Loved it!!! (6mi in 53 min at 8:49)
Saturday: (5-8 at 45-60 seconds slower than MP)
8 miles at 9:08 pace which is still too fast per the schedule. Faster is better, right?
Sunday: (5-8)
6 miles at 9:05 – 3rd day in a row of running for the 2nd week in a row and despite the stomach issues I had going into the run, I finished with what I thought was a respectable time.

In reflection to overall marathon training mileage, I have to admit I feel the nerves beginning to build. One of my dailymile friends ran 28 miles as a training run for his next marathon and I am working on a schedule that’s long run max is 16. I had all intentions to add at least one 20 miler, but I am being unrealistic? I do not want to reach the Boston start line only to fail. I think it is time to rethink my training plan. I started out with this 18 week plan to start a gradual build after my ankle injury and having just coming off some very low running mileage I did not want to jump right in causing new injuries. I wanted to err on the side of caution and in the process try something different for this marathon attempt. After all, this is not my first, but now 4 weeks are completed and I feel like I am not doing enough. Maybe this will be the subject of my next session with my Health Coach.
