Big News
Since the time change I started feeling more like my old love the morning self. The only bummer about this is that I’ve slowed the running down to just 3 days a week until my next race training begins. With the lower mileage easy running I’ve been focusing on strength training 2 days and 1 yoga day to make up the calorie burn deficit. To be honest, I am a little nervous that the number on the scale will change in the wrong direction during this time. I continue to look for ways to get an extra burn while eating a bit smarter than normal. My health coach wanted me to set a few new goals so maybe it is time to set the goal to lose those last 5 pounds. Being held accountable may be just the motivation I need to keep it real.
This week two exciting things happened.
#1 My favorite band released their 3rd album and in my opinion is their best to date. Love it!
#2 And then Friday I picked up my best gift ever……
An entry into the Boston Marathon 2012 from my running club! I can’t believe that I will be able to run Boston. Let’s face it, Boston is one of the most sought after marathons. It is a dream for many runners including myself. I use to say that I would not run it unless I could qualify based on my age set by the B.A.A. strict standards.
But next year is one of those birthday milestones for me and I wanted to something extra special. I played with a few different ideas of which race I wanted to run, but Boston just kept invading my thoughts. After all what is more special than Boston? I decided to put my name in for my running club’s Boston Marathon Lottery. I had met all the requirements and then I got the email that I was actually chosen. I am not the luckiest when it comes to drawings and contests so I was beyond thrilled.
I can’t wait to set up my training plan. I plan on training hard while keeping a “have fun” attitude. Think that is possible?
