I Am Done
Happy Sunday!
Another snow fall last night left us about 2 inches of fresh snow.
Daily Mile: Ran 4:45 in 43 minutes. It was a little more difficult to run in and gave my legs more of a workout. I imagine it is a little like running in sand.
After my run I shoveled the driveway and sidewalk then came in changed into some dry clothes and stretched with a 10 minute Yoga routine. I was feeling good at this point so I thought what the heck, today is just as good as any to give Jillian Michaels 6 week Six Pack a go. Level 1 is currently available at ExerciseTV on Comcast On Demand which is not only convenient but free. I am now thinking that running and shoveling first was not the smartest move. Ya think?
But I finished day one and hope that by the time I am ready for Level 2 it will also be available On Demand. I liked this workouts intensity. It has quick bursts of cardio and a good mix of standing and floor exercises which you go through twice. I feel stronger already….but also exhausted!
At my meeting with my Health Coach last Monday we talked about my new goals for 2011 and he was a little concerned when I said I was looking for more defined abs. In our conversation we talked about how there are so many target area workouts available on the market that essentially lie. The big misconception is that target workouts alone can help you get the results you seek. Can they help strengthen your abs, probably but you must burn fat from the entire body to really build muscle definition. By the end of our session I realized that defined abs was not the most realistic goal, but what I was really seeking was to continue on my path to reduce body fat with a focus on core work to become more lean. I left there again with a better understanding of the complexity of how the body really works in relation to diet and exercise. I think that Jillian’s philosophy in this DVD is very much in line with my Coach’s explanation.
After a shower it was finally time for breakfast and I was ready for a big breakfast!
Food For Thought: Pumpkin Oatmeal Pancakes (From The Kitchen Of A Runner)
- 1/2 cup spelt flour sprouted flour
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon ground flax
- 3 tablespoons water
- 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
- 3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1 cup of canned pumpkin
- Coconut oil
I am a big lover of pancakes and I was extremely happy with how good this recipe really turned out. I got 6 good size pancakes in this batch which leaves me a quick breakfast for tomorrow morning too. Yum!
Now I am off to eat lunch! I am so done for the day! Hope you had a wonderful weekend and was able to accomplish everything you needed to get done.

That’s a serious Sunday sweat! Nice job, Bekah!
I was interested to hear your health coach’s response to your abs goal. I am perfectly happy with my weight, but I would love more defined abs. It is definitely a tough area to target. I have a strong core, but it’s just not defined. My boyfriend always reminds me that my strength is much more valuable.

Running, shoveling, and Jillian Michaels all before breakfast!? I’m so impressed! I have her 30 Day Shred DVD and that is really tough — so I imagine the one you tried is no different. I did her level 3 workout the other day and am STILL sore. I think I need to make it a regular part of my routine
The pancakes look delicious!
