Make A Difference Sunday
Are you enjoying your 10-10-10?
It was a bit chilly this morning and still dark when I got out of bed so I was in no mood to run my last long run before next week’s marathon. I may not have felt like going for a 12 miler, but I am committed to this training and laced up the shoes and pushed myself out the door….Ho, Hum.
Of course once I got out there and with each step I got more into my runner self and ended up with a good run….yeah!
12.11 miles in 1:53:20 at 9:21 pace
It was a nice easy pace and when I reached my driveway after completing the 12 miles, I got to thinking when did 12 miles start to feel like an easy run? I remember when 5-6 miles seemed like a real effort, but now 10-12 is a comfortable distance. It just reminds me of just how far I have come this year.
Last week I ran the Smuttynose Half Marathon and mentioned that the shirt was probably going to be my favorite race shirt. I mean who doesn’t love baby seals?
The shirt so makes up for the fact the race hardware was so tiny.
My goal this week is to rest, hydrate, get in my calories and get in my last few short runs before the Amica Marathon next week. It is so crazy to think that I will be running a second 26.2 miles this year. I know that every thing I have done over the past 15 weeks will not be undone in just one week, but by keeping focused during this last week will make a difference come race day.
If you are looking for a way to make a difference in a child’s life maybe you will consider Beads of Courage. I discovered this wonderful movement today and felt compelled to participate and wanted to share the idea with you as well. To spread a bit of encouragement to a child battling a serious illeness and maybe even providing a smile when they receive the Wingman bead I sent gives me the hope that they will have the courage to fight another day. These children are true heroes in my eyes having to muster courage and hope every day to fight for life and I just wanted to do a little something.
My Question To You: What can you do today to make a difference in another person’s life?
